DEBAPRASAD BANDYOPADHYAY ⤡

The Plague of the Death Industry!

I. What happened in Kashmir’s Pahalgam: Murder of Insan (Species-Beings)…
Despicable, dishonourable Prime Minister and Home Minister of the Indian Republic (Federal Union of States),
I feel profound disgust even writing this letter to you. Yet, I am compelled to address murderers, thugs, and enablers of rapists like you because, by stoking religious fundamentalism, you conceal the profiteering, market-driven fanaticism. In your greed for electoral victory, you spread poison, leaving me—a mere individual—bewildered and grief-stricken. You will not get my sympathy vote or my support for the fabricated clash of communities you orchestrate.

Let me stir some old embers, or else your vicious character will remain incomprehensible. Have you ever hesitated to kill your own people while shouting, “Hindus are in danger”?

No, you haven’t. Who set fire to the train compartments in Godhra in 2002? Thanks to The Caravan magazine, I’ve now read the classified report. You killed Ram Mandir’s Hindu karsevaks and then unleashed a pogrom—a human sacrifice—across Gujarat. Aren’t you ashamed, Modi? This is why a terrorist nation like America revoked your passport! Due to your regime’s predetermined Delhi pogrom in 2020, Umar Khalid is still lingering in prison for more than four years without trial, without justice, without any evidence! Thus, human rights are compromised and infringed in the present BJP oligarchy, given that the NHRC, India, has been delisted from the United Nations’ list of human rights organizations. I am absolutely ashamed!

Your own party’s Haren Pandya and IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt knew this well before. The latter rots in jail without cause, while the former was eliminated by a contract killer. And that killer, Sohrabuddin Sheikh, was also silenced to erase evidence. Haren Pandya’s father guarded his son’s body, refusing to let you or your hired goons near it.

Do you remember the Snoopgate scandal? A woman named Madhuri—chased by you two, with 267 phone calls exchanged between you. Why is that matter hushed up now? It was so significant that Ashish Khetan had to write an entire book: Undercover: My Journey Into the Darkness of Hindutva!

Satyapal Malik, the then Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, spoke of the Pulwama tragedy. You, O Prime Minister, were busy frolicking in the water with Bear Grylls at the time of the Pulwama massacre (I remember that George Bush was busy with school children when the 9/11 took place. The Laden-Senior Bush collusion is now more than evident!). The Prime Minister, whose duty is 24/7, was entirely unreachable. At that very moment, an RDX-laden vehicle sped effortlessly (perhaps) from Nagpur. Forty CRPF soldiers died. And you told Satpal Malik, “Quiet, don’t speak—bury it.” You returned to power on the back of sympathy votes, upholding “Rajdharma” on Modi’s unshakable throne! Shame! Damn your devilish, malevolent lying intellect.

In 2019, we saw you, the leader of vandals, destroy temples—crafted by your own Archaeological Survey of India—without care, all to build the Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor.
What more can I say about your lumpen, discharged jailbirds?

II. Related Counter-Questions…
“Learn this by surrender, by counter-questioning, by service.
The wise, the seers of truth, will impart knowledge to you.” (Gita, 4:34)

Your Gita, riddled with contradictions, allows for questioning—as does the Nyaya school of philosophy. I know you, the Sangh Parivar, are utterly ignorant, uncouth, driven by profiteering and the urge to cling to power, capable of any reckless deed. Do you know what your Gita calls your profiteer crony friends? “Pāpayoni” (born of sin). Check the 32nd verse of the Gita’s ninth chapter. Can you even understand it? Hindutva fanatics know nothing of Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit—they only revel in the genealogical fantasy of “Sanatan.”

Thus, I trouble you with questions, though I know—
“Yes, and how many deaths will it take ’til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.”

[RTI responses no longer come. My two years as a transparency activist confirm this!]

  1. Why do you give the Taliban government in Afghanistan 100 to 200 crore rupees annually?
  2. Is it true that there’s an understanding between Pakistan’s ISI and India’s RAW? Do you orchestrate such shocks when your throne wobbles or to suppress critical events?
  3. Who profits from this war game? Arms dealers sell weapons to both sides: terrorist states and so-called terrorists. They see each other’s faces in the mirror—mutual resemblance! Who manages events like wars and riots? Who are the sponsors? Wars or pogroms are now crafted by MNCs and has no connection with the motivations of “nationalist pride”, even if the present Indian regime tries to call for its jingoistic, Hindutva indoctrination in these situations! Rather, let us call for TOTAL DISARMAMENT given that stopping war entails getting rid of weapons of mass destruction, as reflected in the ethos of the historic Russell-Einstein Manifesto (1955)⤡  .
  4. What is the responsibility of the Home Ministry, Ajit Doval (current National Security Advisor), and RAW? Why didn’t they act proactively (or deliberately chose not to)? Answer, or vacate your throne. Admit your failure. What about your negligence of the present fluid states of the LAC and LOC, given that China is occupying 38,000 sq. km of Indian territory? Why is the same being foreclosed?
  5. During demonetization and the abrogation of Article 370 (why not 371⤡?), you claimed terrorism (and terror-funding) would end. Are your words worthless, then? I demand a Right to Recall. I express my disgust and complete distrust in your administration.
  6. What’s the difference between Lashkar-e-Taiba (and its affiliate TRF) and RSS, Bajrang Dal, Vishva Hindu Parishad (the masterminds of the one-sided 2002 Gujarat pogrom), or Durga Vahini? Who funds them? In a money-driven society, “Pay the price, get the prize”!

I am taking on to this performance to highlight the criminal patterns associated with your regime:

III. Simulation
Baudrillard’s claim: These war games are mere illusory spectacles.

I know that the STAR WARS project under the Regan Administration was a deceiving simulation. At the same time, your 2019 efforts to shoot down a satellite in low earth orbit by using a “space weapon”, an anti-satellite missile under Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Programme (Mission Shakti), to claim yourself as a “space superpower” without worrying about the ecological consequences of the same (given that such missile tests are often followed by super-cyclones and rising amounts of space debris) seems to be another statist simulation to deviate the attention from real issues of the day. One day, this simulation would also be revealed.

But the death of the oil-soaked bird during the Gulf War was real.

Who knows how many piles of corpses are forming in Gaza, Syria, Ukraine, and beyond? In this simulated world, I know nothing.
“O Yama, O Life,” “I fear you not…
The coward’s heap of fears, the arrogant injustice of the mighty,
The cruel greed of the covetous,
The constant anguish of the deprived,
The pride of race,
The manifold dishonour of humanity’s presiding deity…”

I can bear it no longer. “Burn me with hell’s fire, shame me with hell’s remorse…”

IV. The Wounded Cry of Pain:
“O brother, whom do you condemn? Bow your head.
This is my sin, this is your sin.”

My so-called social media friends, now drunk on the mind-bending, cunning communalism crafted by the state, please abandon me—unfriend me.
Or else, say:
“Hindu or Muslim? Who asks such a question?
Captain! Declare: It is humans who drown, my mother’s children.”

In this letter-article, I am emphasizing on species-being (mānavagotra) as a strategic essentialism at the time of crises…

The lost and unheard cries of Bilkis Bano’s unborn child still echo in the silence…

Rendering the gentle words of peace a futile jest.”

The Menace of Rumors

Recalling Abhaya and the desolate village of Pahalgam—
Emptiness.

I. Problem Question
People are presenting such vivid “eyewitness accounts” of events that it seems they were present at the scene of the said tragedy in Pahalgam (or R. G. Kar!). The issue is, are these their fabricated or “true” narratives, or are they suppressed unconscious or pre-conscious “utterances of the mind” (Man ki Baat!)?
To put it plainly, seeing the sudden shift in the mindset of my so-called progressive left-liberal acquaintances and the relentless provocation by Godi media, my mood has soured. Were their minds always lurking in the cesspool of Hindutva?
Thus, exasperated by all this, I’m compelled to offer this theoretical discourse. Though I know, “coal, even washed a hundred times, doesn’t shed its dirt.”
Yet, the farmer lives on hope! Let me share a story to spark discussion (Does anyone have the time to abandon cow-urine gossip and seek enlightenment through discussion?)

A king once commissioned artists to paint his portrait. Every painting the artists produced was rejected by the Great Dictator King, who then had the artists executed.
Amid this slaughter of artists, one clever artist presented a blank canvas before the king: “Behold, Your Majesty, your portrait.” The king was immensely pleased.
We all know the king is naked. We don’t say it. A child does.
I saw such a child on social media. That orphan child, far from being traumatized by the Pahalgam incident, was articulately narrating the beastly (ugh, I demeaned animals) events of Pahalgam.

https://youtu.be/4WZHIJS32hA

But in the comment section of that video post, some “enlightened” individuals caught the trick: the event was staged. We can identify the masterminds behind it! Bravo! That’s the goal, isn’t it?
However, in today’s so-called post-truth society, with the aid of AI or artificial intelligence, any narrative can be crafted. Fact-checking is becoming nearly impossible. Md. Zubair and others at Alt News are trying. Let’s see how far the water rolls.

II. The Whispering Game
In some workshops, we’d start with a game: the whisper game! As a word like “old” transforms into “cold”, “gold,” “mould” or even “abracadabra” after passing through ten ears, it was quite amusing. Keeping in mind the anthropocentric limitations of senses like ears and eyes, is what we see, hear, taste, or smell truly “real” or “ir-real”? There’s also the game of swapping sensory roles. Suman, the singer, gives a glimpse of this sensory swap in his line, “I stretch out my hand, lick and eat the frenzied sanai of Bismillah.” This sensory interplay can be found in the Nyaya philosophy’s epistemology of perception, as well as in avant-garde French poetry and Monsieur Sartre’s What is Literature?. Let’s set that aside for now and discuss the crisis of evidence (pramana) and the subject-knower (pramata) in today’s context.

III: We Don’t Dismiss Verbal Testimony. Why?
In terms of evidence, direct perception is considered the highest form of proof—so said the revered Carvaka philosophers. But it’s not the only proof. Inference, analogy, and verbal testimony are three other forms of evidence discussed in the Nyaya Sastra, the guiding light of all scriptures.
Scriptures? That which liberates from oppression (sasana) is scripture (sastra). But Carvaka’s Brihaspati argued that scriptures alone cannot determine what ought to be done. Unreasoned judgment harms scriptures. Now we see this dogmatic explosion of non-judgment all around.
For now, let’s set aside other forms of evidence and focus on verbal testimony. Carvakas don’t accept verbal testimony. Why would they? Verbal testimony refers to the “authoritative words” of wise sages, their “trustworthy” statements. Can we blindly accept someone’s words as evidence?
This is a murky matter. From the questionable King Pratapchand “Imposter King” (a la Partha Chatterjee) case (I had a long discussion with subaltern historian Gautam Bhadra about this “evidence” while he was writing a book on the imposter king) to the recent Abhaya incident in West Bengal and the various narratives surrounding Kashmir’s recent events, this issue keeps resurfacing. Let’s quickly unpack the concept of narrative.
(Quickly? Am I selling fast food? Without the discipline of patience and steadiness, how can we ethically counter Speed Capitalism?)

IV: The Rashomon Effect
You know and have likely seen Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon. The murder of a samurai and the r-a-p-e of his wife are recounted in multiple contradictory narratives by so-called “eyewitnesses,” including the ghost of the deceased (hauntology!)!
So, even direct perception has issues in narrative construction? There are plenty of examples. For now, let’s talk about two brutal incidents: Abhaya and Pahalgam.

V. “What is Truth, What is False? Are All Waking Moments a Deception?”
To examine falsehood, an astonishing epistemological and scientific field has emerged: pseudology (Pseudologia fantastica)! Let’s move beyond the obsession with seeking radiant truth and escape the mindset of power’s dominion.
[The Mandukya Upanisad goes a step further! It deems the waking state the falsest, the dream state falser, deep sleep false… So, there’s a gradation of truth and falsehood?]
When, in the relentless pursuit of truth-seeking, I realize there’s no such thing as truth in this anthropocentric perspective, I begin searching for the non-truth.
While writing the history of falsehood, the first face that comes to mind is his: The King Liar!

Thus, to the lost, mortal-seeking falsehood, I say:
“In the dark night, a lone madman walks, weeping.
He only says, explain to me, explain to me, explain to me.
I am your child of light,
Yet you spread darkness before me,
You hid your face—I die in that sorrow.
In the darkness, the script of the setting sun is written,
Teach me its meaning.
The melody of your soul’s flute, so varied,
That was mine to know.
Now, I’ll take the unknown tune of the death-veena with effort.

Warning: The trouble is, the powers-that-be are erasing concrete evidence (Site of Vandalism) . And beware of authoritative words! The menace of rumors is rampant. Don’t lend your ears to them—please don’t spread them and make things worse as part of Whatsapp University.
Standing beside Julius Caesar’s corpse, Antony held a blank parchment (like the blank canvas in the earlier story of the king!) and declared, Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.

His fiery speech sparked a riot.
