Should the DHFL Victims Boycott the Upcoming Elections?

“…ratification would mean a system in which there are two positions presented to me, the voter. I go into the polling booth and I push one or another button, depending on which of those positions I want. That’s a very limited form of democracy. A really meaningful democracy would mean that I play a role in forming those decisions, in creating those positions. That those positions reflect my active, creative participation; not just me, of course, but everyone. And that would be real democracy.” (Chomsky, Noam⤡)

When nearly all the political parties in India are equally to be blamed for their:

a) Crony-Corrupt structural habits: be it the “bribing” of these parties through corrupt means such as the recently exposed electoral bonds or terror-funding, or the general economic model subscribed by all of the parties at present, which is essentially capitalist that promotes the concentration of wealth in fewer hands. Moreover, each party is controlled by guided by the corporate in determining their policies, tactics, modes of operation etc. “Vote” is “Dollar Vote” amidst all the false promises or jumlas.

b) Playing the same religious card: all of the political parties involve themselves in religious activities or rituals for the vote-bank.

c) Electoral Tactics: all of the parties promote the distribution of “freebies” to win the confidence of the electorate as well as use the very same money-muscle power to control and win the so-called “free and fair” elections!

d) Eco-ignorance: all the political parties in India are quite willfully indifferent about environmental issues other than areas where such concerns benefit Green Capitalism.

e) Minorities triumph projected as majoritarian governmentality: In the context of multi-party system, as exacted in the pluralistic nature of the South-East Asian territory, the minority party, after getting only 37% votes, is ruling over the other 63% by claiming that “everybody has voted for us”. The consent or voice of this other 63% is in oblivion along with the fact that the Indian geo-political nationhood is a conglomeration of different union of states or federalism.

There are many other issues that pervade the character of all political parties as LIMITED COMPANIES in India, but those do not concern us right at this moment. Instead, it would be beneficial for us to pinpoint the subject-matter of this post in the background of whatever we mentioned above.

The DHFL Scam, as evident to all of the regular followers of our website by now, is an event that was catalyzed by none other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling party of India. It involves the following things, in brief:

a) Quid Pro Quo affair amidst Mr. Ajay Piramal (Ambani’s secondary relative) and the BJP.

b) Terror-funding through the proper channel of Dawood Ibrahim, Iqbal Mirchi and others.

Thus, the DHFL victims are never in a justified position to provide any support to the BJP, the chief source of their miseries and sufferings.

What about the other political parties of the Opposition that are slowly fading away as India turns into a totalitarian polity? How should the DHFL victims view the TMC, INC, AITC, DMK, CPI(M) etc.?

As some of the DHFL victims approached the “I.N.D.I.A.” alliance countless times with the plea for justice and relief, they got no viable answers from those parties. Other than the exception of the INC for a few times, no party even bothered or cared to mention or do anything effective about the biggest financial fraud in the history of India, i.e., the DHFL scam.

What to do then?

One cannot have any faith in the EVMs and VVPATs as well, since they are open to manipulation through technological means. No first or second-world tech-savvy nations (including Germany, England, France, the USA etc.) use these technologies for their elections, due to the tampering or hacking possibilities of both these mechanisms. The countless instances of such manipulation in the past decades in India prove the same.

Hence, there is a movement going on against the use of EVM along with VVPAT (with opaque window glass, where you, as a voter, can no longer see the match between the party for you’ve voted and the second one that is put within the VVPAT within the span of 7 seconds.).

Given the above, it is no wonder that:

Resignations of Two Election Commissioners Under Modi Regime Reflect ECI’s Decline VIEW HERE ⤡ (As reported on 13th March, 2024 ©The Wire)

Excerpt from the above report: “The resignation of election commissioner (EC) Arun Goel on March 9, just a few days before the announcement of the general elections, is unprecedented in the history of our republic. His tenure was to end in 2027 and he would have taken over as chief election commissioner (CEC) in due course. According to unattributed reports, he resigned (or was prevailed upon to quit) because of serious differences with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.”

In the case of the method of ballot papers, booth capturing by muscle-power is also inevitable. One has seen this in West Bengal from the days of yore– from the Left front’s “scientific rigging” to the TMC’s massive use of muscle & money power (note that the TMC is the second highest earner in case of Electoral bonds). To hide the facts of movement against EVM and VVPAT, only one instance of manipulating ballot paper by a presiding officer in the Chandigarh Mayor Elections was shown or foregrounded in the media. The common people then forget about the bigger scams of the EVM!

Using the data published by the “International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Support” (International IDEA), it was found out that 30 countries are using electronic methods of voting as of 2018. 29 countries are currently conducting trials and feasibility tests on various electronic voting methods while 11 countries have done away with the practice altogether.

An electoral system in which proportional representation has no place (in the case of direct, general elections), where the “Right to Recall” has got no place, where the EVMs can easily be controlled by the political parties — what are we, the common citizens, supposed to do? In the name of “free and fair” elections, India is actually turning into an “electoral autocracy”, as recently alleged by the Swedish V-Dem Institute:

‘Electoral autocracy’: The downgrading of India’s democracy VIEW HERE ⤡

It is very difficult within this situation to choose EITHER the EVM OR the Ballot (in terms of an exclusive disjunction), since it seems to be a double-edged sword! The whole “election industry” is an expensive affair of so-called “democracy”, which generates temporary employment for some common people!

With this in mind, Once in a Blue Moon Academia (OBMA), through their Whatsapp and Telegram Groups, created a poll that asked the following question in a different version:

Should the DHFL Victims participate in the upcoming elections, given the fact that their miseries have been caused by the ruling party of India, as well as the indifference of the other parties? Should the DHFL victims #BOYCOTT the Lok Sabha General Elections (2024) for the non-payment of their dues even after four long years of suffering?

You can vote as of now in the following poll:

-elecThis proposal for “polling” amidst the DHFL Victims was first suggested by one of the DHFL Victims, Mr. Sandip Wattal. We acknowledge his valuable suggestion.

Given this post, one may also cast one’s vote additionally (and if you don’t have a WordPress account to cast your vote on the above poll at present) to the above question in terms of “Yes” or “No” in our Whatsapp and Telegram groups, by clicking on the pinned message (can be found in the top space of each group) in both of the groups:
